October 8, 1862 Perryville Battlefield State Historic Site was the site of the bloodiest battle fought in Kentucky during the Civil War.
On Oct. 8, 1902, forty years to the day of the battle the Confederate Monument was unveiled. Kentucky’s division of the Daughters of the Confederacy raised both public and private funds to purchase the monument.
In 1936, the Perryville Battlefield became a Kentucky State Historic Site.
Today you can walk the land, 750 acres of pristine battlefield land, preserved as it was at the time of the battle. Visit the interpretive museum and gift shop. For more information about the Battle of Perryville, visit the battlefield website.
